Intervención Neuropsicológica en un caso de una niña con SÃndrome de Williams

El SÃndrome de Williams (SW) es un trastorno genético del neurodesarrollo poco común, que se caracteriza por un perfil neuropsicológico definido por la presencia de mejores habilidades verbales que visoespaciales. El objetivo de este trabajo fue aplicar una intervención neuropsicológica para mejorar los procesos atencionales, visoespaciales y de memoria en una paciente con SW. La intervención se llevó a cabo durante 10 meses con sesiones semanales de
una hora. El diseño del estudio fue evaluación-intervención-evaluación. Los resultados de la segunda evaluación fueron comparados con una muestra clÃnica. Con el fin de identificar cambios clÃnicos significativos antes y después de la intervención se utilizó el Ãndice de cambio confiable. Se encontró que los procesos de atención sostenida, control inhibitorio, abstracción, memoria de trabajo, habilidades visoespaciales y memoria presentaron una mejorÃa clÃnica significativa a partir de la intervención realizada. Estos resultados dan evidencia de la importancia de la intervención neuropsicológica en pacientes con SW para mejorar el funcionamiento cognitivo y su calidad de vida.

Abstract
Williams syndrome (SW) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a rare prevalence and is characterized by having a neuropsychological profile defined by better verbal than visuospatial abilities. The objective of the work was to improve the attentional, visuospatial and memory processes in a patient with SW through the application of a neuropsychological intervention program. The program was carried out for a year with an evaluation-intervention-evaluation design; the results of the second evaluation were compared with a clinical sample. For the analysis of the results, the reliable change index was used, to identify significant clinical changes before and after the intervention. It was found that the processes of sustained attention, inhibitory control, abstraction, working memory, visuospatial abilities and memory presented a significant clinical improvement. These results provide evidence of the importance of neuropsychological intervention in patients with SW to improve their quality of life.

Resumo
A sÃndrome de Williams é uma anormalidade peculiar do neurodesenvolvimento com um fenótipo condutual caracterÃstico. O artigo mostra uma revisão teóric clÃnicas e linguÃsticas da sÃndrome de Williams, a partir de uma cuidadosa sÃntese bibliográfica. Estas caracterÃsticas se descreverão sob um enfoque neuropsicolÃnguÃstico dando ênfase nas variáveis cognitivas (componente semântico, pragmático e processamento léxico-semântico), como eixos principais no déficit na conduta verbal da sÃndrome de Williams. De tal modo, se reconhecem os aportes da neurolinguÃestica de Luria. Se mostram critérios para a compreensão dos princÃpios organizativos da linguagem, associados à s alterações da linguagem na sÃndrome de Williams. O artigo mostra, desde a neuropsicologia infantil, a uma maior compreensão das alterações neuropsicolinguÃsticas da sÃndrome de Williams e para o fortalecimento conceitual da sua intervenção futura.
