¿Debe informarse el diagnóstico de demencia?
Abstract
En el mundo existen actualmente 28 paÃses que han diseñado e implementado un plan o estrategia de enfrentamiento de la demencia, siguiendo el llamado y recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS). Desde 2014, el Ministerio de Salud (MINSAL) ha asumido el desafÃo de desarrollar el Plan Nacional de Demencia para Chile. Entre otros elementos, el Plan busca articular acciones en el sistema de salud con un enfoque sociosanitario y biopsicosocial, tanto para potenciar la prevención de la enfermedad como lograr una mejor calidad de vida para las personas que viven con demencia y sus entornos de apoyo, por medio de un soporte integral basado en intervenciones psicosociales y farmacológicas. Entre sus principales objetivos, y a la vez desafÃos, se encuentra el aumentar el diagnóstico temprano y oportuno de las demencias.
