Abstract

Abstract
The aim of this work was to investigate the increase of cognitive changes in patients with initial Alzheimer's disease due to depression, mainly considering population changes, dynamics of demographic components and the increase of population the older adults in Mexico. The results presented statistically differences in the cognitive mechanisms of orientation; attention and calculation; language; memory; and deferred memory and visuoconstructive capacity. It concluded that there is an increase in the cognitive alterations presented by the elderly with Alzheimer's disease in the initial phase, when a depression of a mild or moderate level is associated with the disease, which harms the performance of a good diagnosis and consequently of a good program of cognitive stimulation.
